“PENTECOST: Season of the Spirit”

1. Cookie Ministry at the Schools: On June 14th Arlete and I were invited to the Rio Linda Union School District Board of Trustees Meeting. We presented our program and gave each board member a container of cookies. We also received, in the mail, a very nice thank you letter from Frank Porter, District Superintendent.

2. Calvary Connections: We have started a new program called “Calvary Connections.” This is a program to keep connected with visitors. On the 4th Sunday of each month we will be hosting an informal social gathering with snacks and drinks for these visitors from 4:00-5:30 pm with rotating hosts. This 1st one is at Dick & Arlete’s. Members of the other ministry areas have been invited to come also. We invite anyone that would like to be a part of this program and make these new people feel welcome, please contact me.

3. Memorial Day Parade – May 31, 2004, “America for Freedom:” This was a great outreach event. We had about 30 participants and we passed out bottles of water with a business card on them: “Christ: The Living Water,” which went over very well. The spectators were very hot and thirsty and were reaching out for the water. With the truck made to resemble an eagle and “How Majestic” playing upbeat music from the trailer, which was decorated with red, white and blue with white doves, and the water, we were the hit of the parade. In fact, we took a 1st place and received a very nice trophy.

4. Big Event – September 12, 2004: We are in the planning stages right now. More information will be coming next month.
