Food Closet Report for February 2003

By: Barbara Glidden
Posted: Monday, March 24, 2003

Calvary and other churches in the Rio Linda/Elverta Area support the Food Closet located at the Rio Linda Community United Methodist Church. The food closet accepts all cash or non-perishable food. It can be left at our church or taken to the food closet Monday or Thursday between 10:00 a.m. and 12 Noon.

February was a quiet month compared to January. Only 18 families received food (31 adults and 25 children for a total of 56 individuals).

The Food Closet is very low on canned SOUP. Since we give 3 cans per family even in a slow month it goes fast. 3x18=54 cans in February. In January with 48 families the soup was depleted FAST!!!

April 1st is to be my last day to work in the Food Closet. We are looking for volunteers to take my place. Please call me (991-5219) if you can help even if it's for only one day a month.

Purchasing food when needed, storing it and keeping the shelves filled are some of the responsibilities of the coordinator.

I want to THANK EVERYONE for assistance in keeping the Food Closet supplied with food and monies these past years. It has been a blessing to work with the many volunteers from so many different churches who have kept the Food Closet open. I pray you continue to assist in keeping the Food Closet supplied with food, your rewards will be many. Again thank you ALL & and most of all God Bless you.
